Rev Samuel Mulinge was born in the year 1932 to Canon Paul Nzimbi and Martha
Nzimbi. His father was instrumental in establishing the Anglican churches in the county
of Kitui Eastern Kenya. Growing up in a family of 8, Rev Samuel was enrolled to a
teaching school by his father where he pursued mathematics and English. Upon
graduation he took on the position of a school principal in a local school. He at the same
time was ordained as a Reverend in the Anglican church of Kenya Kitui county. Rev.
Samuel would end up educating all of his 8 siblings. His position as a school principal
played a key role in shaping young men and women in his village of Tungutu. Up-to-
date, many owe their careers to him. He ensured no kid was left behind and educated
parents on the importance of education. He supported girl education by educating his
seven daughters and strongly opposing early marriages that were quite apparent during
that time. Through his leadership, both girls and boys were given equal opportunities to
succeed in life. Rev Samuel was known as a stern disciplinarian, generosity, his love
for family and a genuine smile that was always contagious. He was promoted to glory in
the year 2009 at the age of 75. To uphold his legacy and love for education, Rev Samuels
kids non-profit was established to continue to provide educational scholarships for both
girls and boys especially in the village of Tungutu Easter part of Kenya. This scholarship
programme targets both bright boys and girls that would otherwise not achieve success in
life owing to poverty and inability to afford high school and college. May Rev Samuel
continue to rest in peace as his legacy of education for all continues.
